Water Scarcity for Ecolint Geography Conference - Geneva - 1 of 5

These resources are linked to a set of resources which I am producing for a workshop in Geneva next week at the International School of Geneva.
They are being placed here in advance of the session for those curious folks who might do some Google searches: if so, welcome and I'll see you next week...
I am going to be doing a workshop on the following IB Geography specification point:

Examine the environmental and human factors affecting patterns and trends in physical water scarcity and economic water scarcity.

Several resources are going to be shared on the relevant posts on this blog in the build up to the event, so that I can share my thinking in developing the workshop.
I have 45 minutes to explore this area with students, and to try and work towards some group work and student co-creation.
I'd like to have a series of activities in groups.
Students will be in groups of 3, which will be created by pairing up with other students - each set of student handouts will have either H, 2 or O on the top, and the groups will have to be made up of an H a 2 and an O.
In these threes, there will be some tasks which will need the H's to do something in particular... etc.

1. Good Water
This is nice introduction to the importance of water, and comes from Good magazine: one of my favourite online 'resources'...

2. Students notes - available on SCRIBD - details to follow in a future post once they have been finished - some really up to date material to be added related to current UK drought and relationship with the wet weather that we have been having...

3. VITAL Notes from UNEP: Grid Arendal

A set of useful maps, some of which are used in the presentation that I shall use to piece together the

Will be using these as well for some of the tasks..

4. Thirst- Jeff Brennan

A characteristically clear presentation from Jeff Brenman

5. Triptico Think Link hexagons will be used to connect together some of the key terms and ideas to produce some summary statements in the plenary at the end of each workshop....

6. I have also made a Pinterest Board which will contain lots of images about the theme of water scarcity which students with an account can browse and repin as they like...

Ironically, the workshop will also be taking place in a city whose most iconic image is a large water fountain... the Jet D'Eau...
This was how I remembered it from my youth back in the 1970s....

It seems to be interesting. I've made a link for these resources.
