Stag Do Geography...

It's a while now since my stag do, and events that happened in certain parts of the evening remain a little hazy...
I remember it started out with me abseiling off a railway viaduct in the snow. There was also an hour or so spent down in the phreatic zone (remember V I P... vadose over phreatic for those interested in groundwater revision tips...) while potholing...

And there was the night spent in a tent which had ice on it the following morning. I think single malt whisky may also have been involved at some point..

Of course, there has been a dramatic rise in these sort of activity, and it is worth thinking about the likely consequences  of these on the areas in which they take place.
Thanks to Jon Wolton for sending this link to a VISIT BRITAIN page on activities which adds a few more to the list...

Jon also provided a nice new approach to thinking about some of these landscape changes, by thinking about a conflict matrix and a management plan for reducing the impact of these activities on the landscape.
