VLEs in the Snow...

Some discussion on my Tweetdeck feed today on the role of VLEs during this weather in enabling students to carry on learning.

Mr. Mitchell's blog had a good example of how he had used a site called COVER IT LIVE, to get students together to investigate the effects of the bad weather.

Are there any examples out there of geography-related VLE content being used to keep 'lessons' going ?

Hello, Mr. Mitchell is ME!!
Actually a big Geography geek too! I was trained by Howard Lisle (BBC River fame)and was inspired ever since that day I first watched him in action. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for posting my site on here! Quite a nice activity I have planned for this next week is:

We are starting a Zoo topic for writing for the next 6 weeks. I asked my Twitter contacts to tell me their local Zoo or one that have visited and the response was unbelievable! If you search for the hashtag: #y6zoo you will see masses of posts. You can see the embedded search term here by scrolling down a little: http://www.y62010.heathfieldcps.net

I plan to introduce the topic by children editing an online map placing pins in these locations, these will then be embedded into a google map and displayed as an interactive map for the children to use as a reference tool for their writing later in the topic!

Thanks for the link!
